My teaching focuses on the history of the modern United States and the global history of modern science. I also have special expertise in teaching research and writing skills, drawing on my experience as the director of the Harvard History & Science senior thesis program and as a magazine editor. For advanced students, my seminar courses explore topics in the social and political history of expertise, the history of anti-racist, feminist, environmental, and working-class social movements, and the history of capitalism, work, and social science.
